July marks the end of Rock Creek’s floating season and brings summer splendor to the valley including a variety of hatches like golden stoneflies, green drakes, and pale morning duns. August bring warm, golden days perfect for casting terrestrial hoppers and ant patterns along our 1.8 miles of private frontage as wading conditions reach their peak. By September and October, crisp mountain air and brilliant autumn colors frame the scene, where blue-winged olive and mahogany dun hatches provide the last taste of dry fly fishing for the year. While you can fly fishing on Rock Creek nearly year-round in some sections, the months of November through March require a subsurface approach of nymphing or streamer fishing.
